Role Overview
The Yacht Manager is responsible for the full operational oversight of a portfolio of yachts, ensuring their safe, efficient, and cost‑effective management. This role acts as a key liaison between captains, crew, owners, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver exceptional service and maintain the highest standards of compliance, maintenance, and guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, captains, and crew regarding all operational aspects of the vessel.
* Oversee day‑to‑day yacht operations including navigation compliance, safety management, maintenance scheduling, and technical support.
* Manage financial planning and oversight including budget preparation, expenditure tracking, and monthly reporting to owners.
* Coordinate dry docks, refits, surveys, and major service projects to ensure timely completion to company standards.
* Monitor and ensure compliance with maritime regulations, class requirements, flag state standards, and ISM/ISPS codes.
* Support crew management including recruitment, payroll, certification compliance, contracts, and performance evaluation.
* Maintain strong supplier and shipyard relationships to ensure best‑value procurement and service delivery.
* Respond swiftly to operational issues, emergencies, or breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to owner/charter use.
* Collaborate closely with brokerage, charter, and commercial teams to maximize operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in yacht management or onboard experience in a senior position (Captain, Chief Engineer, Purser, or similar).
* Strong knowledge of maritime legislation, flag/state regulations, and safety management systems.
* Demonstrated experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and cost control.
* Proven ability to manage multiple vessels and stakeholders simultaneously.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
* Highly organized with strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
* Strong IT proficiency including yacht management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to work outside standard hours when operational demands require.
Preferred Attributes
* Experience with superyachts 40m+.
* Multi‑lingual capability and international working experience.
