Job Description

As a Technical Author in the UK BAT team you will help shape new environmental standards for the large volume inorganic chemicals (LVIC) industry, ensuring that Best Available Techniques (BAT) are applied to reduce emissions to air, water and land. You will be responsible for drafting BAT conclusions, liaising with Technical Working Groups and preparing clear, concise technical documents suitable for publication as UK‑wide environmental standards.


Responsibilities

* Draft BAT conclusions and related documentation
* Liaise with Technical Working Groups
* Present final documents to stakeholders
* Work closely with subject matter experts to gather technical data
* Analyse and critically assess technical arguments and data
* Write clear, accurate technical documents
* Manage projects to meet delivery deadlines

Some travel and overnight stays may be required.


Qualifications & Requirements

* At least 5 years of relevant working experience
* Solid understanding of environmental regulation and the LVIC industry
* Good knowledge of process engineering and environmental issues
* In‑depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and policy, especially IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations
* Strong analytical skills and ability to work with complex industrial data
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse stakeholders
* Strong project‑management and organisational skills
