Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost. Position A Data Centre Technician is a primary resolver for your support team, gaining troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems. You will troubleshoot and solve most infrastructure issues, escalating to appropriate resolver groups when necessary. You create and maintain documentation on supported technologies and convey SOPs to junior staff. You understand all aspects of the equipment and can make decisions independently while taking direction when provided, paying attention to details.
You are able to execute small projects independently and collaborate with your manager on larger local projects. You act as an escalation point for junior technicians and understand all aspects of the equipment you support.
Responsibilities
* Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal Service-Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
* Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
* Respond to after-hours emergency calls per on-call rotation for any of the region’s sites.
* Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
* Must be commutable to the Thames Valley Region.
Qualifications
* 3+ years of computer hardware experience.
* 3+ years of computer networking experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* Associate’s degree or higher in an IT-related field; applicable certifications or equivalent professional/military experience.
* Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
* Experience with CISCO, Juniper and other networking devices.
* Previous experience in a Data Centre environment (racking & stacking, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).
* Valid driver’s license, own vehicle, and ability to pass a driving record check to operate company vehicles. Travel between sites may occur.
