Engineering and Design Manager required to work for a niche engineering organisation specialising in the manufacture of specialist equipment used across various industries, including laboratories and field environments.
We seek an experienced manager with a strong track record in managing and developing teams, working on projects, engaging with customers, and supporting senior directors in product development and updates.
While overseeing the Engineering and Design teams, you will play a key role in standardising the existing product line, ensuring a world-class product that exceeds customer expectations and meets market needs. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver quality products at appropriate costs, maximise efficiency, and drive engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Serve as the first point of contact for engineering support, addressing the operational needs of the business and supporting both customers and internal stakeholders.
2. Manage the mechanical and electrical sub-teams within engineering, ensuring timely delivery of planned work.
3. Oversee the engineering support function, allocating necessary resources to meet business needs.
4. Manage the change control process, acting as gatekeeper for ECR approvals and coordinating engineering deliverables.
5. Lead the management of Non-Conformance reports, ensuring no delays in operations and identifying root causes for continuous improvement.
6. Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to maintain and follow robust processes and procedures across the engineering group.
7. Work with stakeholders to deliver a GDS standardised product range that complies with global regulatory standards.
8. Support future product development and updates in partnership with the Product Specialist.
9. Provide monthly KPIs and reports to the operational and wider group, as agreed with the Director of Engineering.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent NVQ qualification.
2. Experience managing an engineering function, implementing effective strategies, policies, processes, and systems.
3. Proven leadership skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Results-driven with the ability to meet project deadlines.
6. Technical mindset capable of challenging and driving process improvements.
