About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Vision, Mission, and Values of Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies. As the Personal Assistant to senior leaders within the Professional Standards Department (PSD), you will play a vital role in supporting a department that upholds the integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards of the organisation.

PSD works to ensure public confidence in Policing by managing complaints, conducting misconduct investigations, and promoting a culture of fairness, transparency, and accountability. As a central support to this important work, you will provide a high‑quality, confidential, and efficient administrative service to senior officers and staff, enabling the department to deliver its responsibilities effectively.

You will demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information, and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team. Your role will be essential in ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations, maintaining accurate records, coordinating key meetings, and supporting managers in their decision‑making processes.


Key Responsibilities

(This list is not exhaustive)

* Provide a confidential personal assistant and administrative service to senior officers and staff within the department
* Coordinate meetings and governance activity, including arranging meetings, preparing and circulating papers, and taking accurate minutes and action records
* Manage diaries, email inboxes, and correspondence for senior staff, prioritising work and highlighting urgent or sensitive matters as required
* Maintain secure electronic filing and record-keeping systems in line with information management requirements
* Act as a central point of contact for administrative coordination, including travel arrangements, events, and procurement of goods and services
* Produce and update departmental documents, presentations, organisational charts, and internal information pages
* Provide general administrative support and management information to ensure the effective and professional operation of the department
* Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by management.


Essential Criteria

* Proven experience working in a busy office environment requiring accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workloads independently.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging with staff at all levels.
* Practical experience using Microsoft Office packages and relevant databases.
* Ability to take accurate minutes and maintain electronic diaries.
* Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of integrity and discretion.
* Good standard of written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce clear and concise correspondence.


Desirable Criteria

* Experience working within a Policing environment
* Good typing skills (RSA II level or above or equivalent experience)


Additional Information

* The role will require working from various locations across Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies.
* Duties must be carried out in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and organisational equality and inclusion commitments.
* The Constabularies continue to progress their modern workplace programme, which may influence hybrid working options. Managers can provide updates during the recruitment process.
