Overview
The Role: As a key member of the Private Client department you will manage a varied caseload covering all aspects of wills probate estate administration and related advisory work. You’ll be joining a practice where compassion and professionalism go hand in hand, ideal for a solicitor who wants to make a meaningful difference while enjoying a supportive and down-to-earth team culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a mixed caseload including:
* Drafting wills and codicils
* Estate and probate administration
* Lasting Powers of Attorney
* Trust creation and administration
* Inheritance Tax planning and general private client advisory work
* Provide clear empathetic guidance to clients often at sensitive times
* Conduct meetings with clients, executors, beneficiaries and other stakeholders
* Prepare and review legal documentation with a strong attention to detail
* Ensure compliance with SRA AML and all relevant regulatory requirements
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using case management software
* Work closely with colleagues to meet deadlines and contribute to departmental goals
* Support junior members of the team (if required)
Requirements
* Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with experience in Private Client law
* Minimum 2-3 years PQE in wills probate and estate administration
* Strong technical knowledge of UK private client law and relevant procedures
* Excellent communication skills and a compassionate client-focused approach
* Ability to manage a busy caseload independently and efficiently
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Confidence using case management systems and Microsoft Office
* A genuine desire to offer high-quality personable client service
Desirable
* STEP qualification or working towards it
* Experience with complex estates or tax planning matters
* Knowledge of trusts and Court of Protection applications
