Environmental Coordinator
Location: Eastleigh (Hybrid: 3 office / 2 home or site)
Salary: £34,000 – £44,000 + £5,000 car allowance or company car scheme
Hours: 37.5 per week, flexible, family-friendly
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Coordinator to join a growing Technical Services team delivering a wide range of civil engineering and environmental projects across the South. This is a brand-new role, created due to team expansion and increasing workload in nature-based, coastal, heritage and infrastructure schemes.
You’ll work within a supportive technical department that includes designers, BIM specialists, graduates, and principal engineers, with the opportunity to supervise a junior team member.
What You’ll Be Working On
You will support environmental and civils coordination on a diverse portfolio including:
Wetland and habitat creation projects
Nature-based environmental solutions
Flood risk and water control structures
Heritage refurbishments (including historic structures)
Bridge upgrades for forestry and rural infrastructure
Coastal and seafront improvement works
Naval & defence infrastructure
Utilities/environmental interfaces
Your Responsibilities
Support environmental compliance, monitoring and documentation
Coordinate with the Environment Agency, utilities, marine authorities and local councils
Manage environmental permits and web-based submissions
Use CDE platforms (e.g., SharePoint) for document control
Support civils teams with drainage, wetlands, coastal and structural works
Assist with BIM-related workflows (no CAD required)
Mentor and supervise a junior colleague
Attend site visits weekly — driving licence required
What We’re Looking For
Background in civil engineering, environmental engineering, utilities, coastal, water or infrastructure
Experience with EA, utilities or public works (desirable)
Strong professional mindset
Chartered or working towards (ICE supported) - Desirable
Good use of Excel and Word
Familiarity with BIM/CDE systems (advantageous)
Full UK driving licence
Suitable backgrounds include:
Main contractors • Consultancies • Water/utilities contractors • Rail • Highways • Local authority / public infrastructure.
