It’s an exciting time to join Warwick District Council’s Neighbourhood and Assets team, as we deliver on a variety of compliance projects for the Council’s housing stock and to our many historic buildings. Our projects are varied and interesting and will provide you with an interesting range of risks and projects to manage. We are looking for a Building Safety Lead to join our experienced team on a permanent basis. Our work involves managing and addressing strategic and operational risks presented by the Council’s housing stock including several high-rise blocks. It also involves our corporate and commercial premises including many buildings in conservation areas and several which are of regional and national importance. You will lead the Building Safety agenda, supporting the Asset Manager to deliver strategic and operational objectives of building safety. This will include leading on Building Safety Act 2022 and Building Safety Regulator requirement for our high rise blocks, and oversight of the big 5 compliance areas of gas and electrical safety, asbestos management, lifts, water hygiene across all stock. You will liaise with the Fire Safety Lead and Building Safety Regulators, Building control on high risk premises. You will have autonomy to train technical, compliance, estates and housing staff to promote a positive building safety culture across the Council. All of this is underpinned by our Big 7 Compliance Policies and Procedures. You will work with our Compliance Manager and Technical Manager, ensuring that our buildings and tenant’s homes are warm and safe, and the Regulator of Social Housings’ Quality and Safety Standards are met. We work on an agile basis, with much of our work being delivered either on site or from home; office and hybrid working are also available. Whilst home working is offered for this role, it is a requirement that the successful candidate be available to attend meetings at our offices within Warwick district when required. This will include evening Cabinet or Committee meetings.
