About the role
You will lead and manage a high‑performing business development team in driving customer‑centric sales strategies for bespoke energy solutions, including Solar PV, HVAC, Heat Pumps, CHP Systems, and Water Services. The Head of BD will ensure the achievement of sales targets, develop the BD team, and foster strong relationships with clients to secure profitable business growth while meeting customers’ bespoke requirements. Protech prides itself on providing tailored solutions that competitors won’t do, ensuring each client’s unique needs are met with precision and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor, and develop the BD team to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
* Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment focused on excellence and surpassing customer requirements.
* Identify training and development needs within the team and implement appropriate programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
* Oversee the development and execution of sales strategies tailored to client specifications and market demands.
* Ensure the BD team delivers exceptional customer service and builds strong, long‑lasting relationships with clients.
* Review and approve sales proposals and contracts, ensuring they align with customer expectations and company standards.
* Maintain extensive knowledge of Protech’s range of energy solutions, including Solar PV, HVAC, Heat Pumps, CHP Systems, and Water Services, to effectively communicate benefits and features to clients.
* Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and competitor offerings to provide informed recommendations to clients.
* Highlight Protech’s unique ability to provide bespoke solutions that competitors won’t do, ensuring each client’s specific needs are met.
* Lead high‑stakes negotiations with clients, suppliers, and partners to secure favourable terms and conditions.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and industry partners.
* Attend client meetings to discuss and clarify project requirements and deliverables.
* Monitor and analyse sales performance metrics to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
* Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for senior management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
* Implement and maintain best practices in sales processes and customer relationship management.
* Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the BD function.
* Maintain and update the sales database and customer relationship management systems.
Qualifications
* Extensive technical sales experience in the HVAC services and projects sector.
* Proven track record of leading and developing high‑performing sales teams.
* Experience in the commercial and industrial sectors is preferred.
* Proven ability to drive sales and deliver customer‑centric solutions.
* Ability to articulate ideas clearly and negotiate favourable terms.
* Strong problem‑solving abilities with a focus on finding effective solutions.
* Keen attention to detail and understanding financial metrics.
* Ability to manage projects effectively and interpret contracts.
* Skilled in using sales software and tools to enhance performance.
* Familiarity with the energy solutions and water management industry is a plus.
* Ability to build strong customer relationships and deliver customer‑centric solutions.
* Flexible approach and demeanour to match shifting demands of different situations.
* Proactively builds and develops teams capable of delivering the organisation’s goals.
* Articulates ideas and information clearly, ensuring understanding and using compelling arguments to gain support and commitment.
