Vacancy: Maternity Support Worker – Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Are you a Maternity Support Worker who is passionate about improving maternity care? You will support the maternity practice education team to lead change and achieve the highest standard of safe care for women and families through effective delivery of recruitment, retention, education and support programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the maternity practice education team to lead change and deliver recruitment, retention, education and support programmes.
* Contribute to the future development of the maternity service with a focus on maternity support worker and healthcare assistant roles.
* Provide accessible/personal pastoral support to the HSA/MSW workforce, develop support networks and deliver clinical support as required.
* Support continuous professional development through delivery of education programmes across the support worker workforce – including job role training, point of care training, induction and further development programmes.
* Support workforce career progression via education and mentoring.
* Maintain the training matrix, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education and conduct relevant administrative tasks.
* Deliver mandatory, statutory, induction and essential training for the maternity service clinical support workforce in line with local and national standards.
* Assess clinical skills in practice for the support worker workforce in line with the scope of practice.
* Provide training for medical devices and logging competencies in line with scope of practice.
* Provide administrative support: booking and preparing meeting/teaching space, collating and monitoring education and training records in line with national standards.
* Actively facilitate colleagues’ development and pastoral support by working alongside colleagues in the clinical areas.
* Actively participate in interviews, meetings, events and networks as required.
Eligibility & Key Requirements
* GCSE Maths & English grade 4‑9 or grade C or above, or level 2 functional skills in maths and English.
* BNCS or NVQ2 / Internal Level 2 training programme in Health and Social Care (must include work‑based assessments). Online‑only qualifications are not accepted.
* All overseas qualifications must be proved comparable to UK standards through ENIC.
