Job overview

An exciting and new opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager to work within Early Intervention in Psychosis Team in South Manchester. You will play a crucial role in the clinical leadership of the team and support staff to provide a high-quality service to service users and carers. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner who has a real passion for providing support at the first episode of psychosis to promote mental and physical heath, wellbeing and recovery.

Your role will involve supporting the team in all aspects of managing the service as well as provide clinical leadership and patient care.

You will be expected to support other practitioners within the service in development of their skills by offering highly developed risk assessments and management plans.

Leading with a positive and helpful attitude is essential for the team, so you will be an excellent communicator and demonstrate the ability to motivate the team to deliver high quality and responsive care.

The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate both their clinical abilities and leadership qualities, whilst promoting high quality services.

You will be joining a client centred, dynamic and friendly team, who prides themselves on delivering high quality, evidence-based interventions for those experiencing first episode psychosis.

Main duties of the job

1. To provide effective leadership, supervision and support to the Early Intervention Team (EIT), developing and maintaining a high quality of service delivery.
2. Overseeing assessments and supporting Referral to Treatment Target.
3. To be responsible for the day to day management and development of a designated multi-disciplinary EIS team.
4. Take on any management duties as required.
5. Demonstrate a high level of understanding of the targets EIT have in place and support staff to meet the needs of the service and deliver high quality recovery focused care and treatment.
6. Participation as a member of the Specialist Network Management Team in the overall management of community based secondary mental health services.
7. Participate in the service bronze on call and bronze on site rota as required.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria

14. Recognised qualification as a Registered Mental Nurse, Social Worker or OT (compliant with requirements for their professional registration body NMC, Social Work England, RCOT.

Desirable criteria

15. Evidence of training/qualifications in psycho-social interventions in psychosis. •Practice Teaching qualification/experience or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria

16. Post qualification experience of working in multi-disciplinary team in mental health. •Evidence of post qualification training / development. •Knowledge of requirements under the Care Programme Approach, Mental Health act 1983(amended 2007) and Care Act 2014 including the needs of carers, social care assessment and safeguarding. •Experience of supervising others.

Desirable criteria

17. Experience of participating in audit and an understanding of implementing Action plans relating to the outcome of audits. •Knowledge of the requirements of the Mental Health Minimum Data Set. •Appropriate demonstratable experience of working in Child & Adolescent or Adult Mental health at a senior clinical level. •Experience of coordinating a complex caseload within the community.

Offer advice and consultation to members of the multi disciplinary team based on solid clinical experience of working in Early Intervention team. •Support the Team Managers and other Professional Leads in the daily operation of the Teams. •Facilitate a culture of life long learning, including involvement in the process of Appraisal and Personal Development Planning. •Participate in and ensure provision of Supervision, both as Supervisee and Supervisor. •Ensure compliance with policy, procedure, and protocol, in consultation with the Team Managers, and Professional Leads. •Participate in multi-agency meetings Protection of Adults at Risk, Child Protection. •Experience of delivering care against key performance indicators and NICE concordant standards. •Understanding of current national policy and initiatives in relation to severe and enduring mental health issues, with a specific understanding of psychosis. •To demonstrate understanding and experience of commissioning, and is confident to put in appropriate challenge, to ensure right packages of care are in place, based on clinical need. •IT competent

The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
