Alongside clinical responsibilities you will have dedicated time for research tailored to your areas of interest and will be involved in a variety of research and service improvement projects, with the flexibility to shape these to align with your professional goals.
The role includes the direct clinical management of paediatric patients treated with photon and proton radiotherapy and any other paediatric patients attending the trust for treatments such as total body irradiation and radioiodine.
Responsibilities
* Participate in paediatric MDT meetings.
* Review on‑treatment and follow‑up patients independently, face‑to‑face or virtually.
* Conduct treatment reviews for paediatric proton and photon patients, managing toxicities of radiotherapy.

* Liaise with the paediatric oncology team at RMCH.
* Provide medical care for paediatric radioiodine inpatients.
* Carry the paediatric crash bleep, responding to emergencies involving paediatric visitors on site.

* Contribute to paediatric governance.
* Present findings at conferences and contribute to scientific publications to advance the field of proton therapy.
* Support education and training initiatives for peers, medical students, resident doctors, and allied health professionals.
* Contribute to clinical research, including the development of your research area and projects, and involvement in ongoing clinical trials.
* Assist with administrative tasks related to direct patient care, the National PBT Registry, and service development.
* Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) activities supported by the Trust.
On‑call commitments: This role does not require participation in the on‑call rota. It normally involves 8‑hour shifts between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday–Friday, and includes 3 Saturdays in a 12‑month period covering on‑call contingency shifts, bank holiday clinical shifts, and very occasional night shifts for paediatric radioiodine patients.
