Fleet Support Officer
Location: Birmingham, England, United Kingdom
Grade B – £28,598 – £34,434 (Consultation grade – subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review)
Working 36.5 hours per week – Permanent.
We’re looking for a proactive Fleet Support Officer to join our Street Scene Fleet Management team at Birmingham City Council. This key role ensures our fleet operates efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with regulatory standards.
What You’ll Do
* Coordinate and maintain essential maintenance documentation (PMIs, brake tests, defect logs).
* Keep statutory records up to date for tax, MOT, insurance, and licensing.
* Validate fuel card requests and monitor fuel transactions for accuracy.
* Assist with procurement activities, including raising purchase orders.
* Support insurance claims processing and incident reporting.
* Liaise with suppliers and service providers to resolve compliance issues promptly.
* Produce and analyse fleet data reports using Excel and Power BI.
* Ensure GDPR compliance when handling sensitive documentation.
* Administer hire vehicle approvals and monitor associated costs.
* Support monitoring of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
We’re looking for someone who
* Understands vehicle compliance requirements (MOTs, O Licence, tax, insurance).
* Has experience managing insurance claims and analysing fleet data.
* Is highly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
* Communicates effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Is proficient in IT systems, including fleet management software, Microsoft Office, and DVLA portals.
