Overview
Endoscopy Team Leader ensures the smooth running of a department where 30,000 patients are scheduled per year. Responsibilities include managing a team across three trust sites, leading and coordinating rota, covering annual leave and managing sickness. The role works closely with training leads to deliver internal, national and international endoscopy training and involves coordinating with stakeholders and JAG requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Liaise with the endoscopy department and pre‑assessment team to ensure endoscopy lists are appropriately booked.
* Actively monitor waiting time targets and elevate risks concerning patient pathways and waiting times to the lead specialist nurse, service manager and clinical manager.
* Ensure patient activity and special requests within the endoscopy service are followed up in a timely fashion.
* Oversee preparation for the next day: admission patient/subject note retrieval, documentation for nursing staff and tracking of patient progress within the pre‑assessment pathway.
* Provide general and basic advice to patient/subject queries and refer clinical‑related queries to nurses or relevant staff.
* Arrange regular meetings to discuss the service and address capacity and pathway improvements.
* Assist in audit and data collection relating to JAG/GRS.
Additional Information
The post holder may be required to work across sites to meet service needs. The role demands operational decision‑making skills and the ability to work autonomously while collaborating within a team to develop and deliver diagnostic and treatment services. Responsibilities also include supporting pre‑assessment, EROS and endoscopy administration and clinical staff, applying designated operational practices within specified endoscopy reporting systems such as GCIS and ICT. The position involves ensuring funding details for patients from Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and overseas are handled correctly. The post holder is expected to be highly computer literate, experienced in hospital administrative settings, knowledgeable about medical terminology, and educated to a level required for the role or possess equivalent experience.
