About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Salesman to join our growing team. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, you will play a key role in driving sales, building customer relationships, and supporting warehouse and production operations when required.
This is a varied and dynamic role, combining field sales with hands‑on operational support. You will receive full training at our dedicated training centre in Dunfermline, Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
* Extensive travel across Newcastle upon Tyne and surrounding areas to visit existing customers and prospective clients, including scrap yards and recycling businesses.
* Identify opportunities to expand the client base.
* Purchase commodities such as catalytic converters and scrap metal by assessing material quality, negotiating prices, and ensuring timely procurement.
* Develop and implement sales strategies to meet and exceed targets, including prospecting, lead generation, and engaging presentations.
* Accurately maintain sales records, reporting on performance, activities, and customer interactions.
* Assess and grade catalytic converters and other materials based on their properties and quality.
* Assist with general production duties including material handling, packaging, and storage.
* Support warehouse operations, including forklift driving, loading/unloading, and organising storage areas.
* Undertake physical tasks including lifting and moving materials when required.
Requirements
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Hands‑on, proactive approach with willingness to support operational tasks.
* Self‑motivated with ability to manage workload independently.
* Flexibility to travel for training in Dunfermline, Scotland, and across the assigned sales region.
* Valid UK driving licence.
* Physically capable of handling and lifting materials.
