Job Summary
Are you interested in working with children and young people with diabetes? Do you have experience in paediatric diabetes management and want to develop your knowledge further? This is a full-time band 6 paediatric diabetes specialist dietitian role within the Dorset County Hospital paediatric diabetes team.
We are a supportive multidisciplinary team based on site at Dorset County Hospital, including administrative staff, a health care assistant, diabetes specialist nurses, a lead diabetes specialist dietitian, clinical/associate psychologists, paediatric diabetes consultants, and paediatric dietitians. The majority of children we support have type 1 diabetes with many using Hybrid Closed Loop (HCL) systems. * Act as a clinical expert to the paediatric diabetes multidisciplinary team.
* Provide dietetic care for CYPD (primarily type 1) in various settings within the West Dorset locality.
* Offer specialised assessment, treatment, and support for patients with co-existing medical conditions requiring dietary adjustments.
* Collaborate with the paediatric diabetes multidisciplinary team to train other healthcare professionals, school and nursery staff, and other care providers.
* Provide support for junior team members and student dietitians.
Line management, supervision and professional development are supported with regular reviews. The department runs twice-yearly Dorset-wide Dietetic CPD sessions in addition to monthly departmental sessions.
