You’ll join a collaborative team of staff and work alongside external professionals such as speech and language therapists and educational psychologists.
Your Role as a Graduate Speech and Language Teaching Assistant
You will support children who have difficulties with:
* Speech sound development
* Expressive and receptive language
* Social communication
* Conditions such as autism, DLD (Developmental Language Disorder), or ADHD
Key Responsibilities:
* Delivering tailored 1:1 and small group interventions to develop communication skills
* Supporting classroom learning by adapting tasks and vocabulary to suit children’s language levels
* Implementing speech and language strategies set by therapists or the SENCO
* Encouraging pupils to participate in speaking and listening activities
* Tracking pupil progress and assisting with intervention planning
* Building strong, supportive relationships with children to foster confidence and independence
Is This the Right Role for You?
This role would suit someone who is:
* A graduate (2:1 or above) in Speech and Language Sciences, Linguistics, Psychology, Education, English, or a related subject
* Interested in a career in speech and language therapy, SEN, or educational psychology
* A patient, empathetic communicator who enjoys working with children
* Proactive, flexible, and eager to learn from experienced professionals
* Experienced working with children or young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or volunteering)
