Post No. POSN005004 - Assistant Headteacher - Alway Primary School Applicants are invited to apply for this exciting opportunity to lead and support the team at Alway Primary School in Newport. Alway Primary School is an English-medium, community-maintained school and provides education for children aged between 3 years and 11 years. It sits within the Llanwern cluster of primary schools. The school has two dedicated learning resource base classes to support pupils with additional learning needs. The school currently has just under 400 pupils on roll. The whole school community is committed to establishing a nurturing and respectful learning community which has a strong, inclusive ethos, creating a culture of positivity, where everyone is encouraged to aspire and believe they can achieve, with excellence at its core. We are looking to appoint an innovative, inspirational, proven and experienced leader who supports this vision and who will thrive on the opportunity of being instrumental in the further development of excellent teaching, our curriculum and professional learning offer. Previous applicants need not apply. Closing Date: Thursday 11th June 2026 Shortlisting: Friday 12th June 2026 Lesson observations: Thursday 18th June 2026, Friday 19th June 2026 Interviews: Monday 22nd June 2026 Start Date: January 2027 (or sooner if possible) This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS).
