Tips for finding employment in France

employment in France

Are you thinking about moving to and working in France? Whatever the reason for your relocation (i.e. French gastronomy, an idea for a new business, the quality of life, career change, etc.), you will need to learn as much as possible about the system and its economy to avoid the possible pitfalls. Here are some tips on how to find a job in France.

Working in France? Prepare yourself to work harder.

Even if France is being considered the second largest economy in Europe after Germany,

the average unemployment rate in France (9.8%) is higher than in the UK (7.2%). Moreover, despite the common belief that in France they don't work much, the French work harder than the British. The OECD reports that the average number of hours per week worked in France stood at 38 hours for 2011, compared to 36.4 in the UK. Besides, the 35-hour week progressively becomes a vestige of the past, especially in the private sector, where the working hours can reach 44 hours a week.

So, think twice before moving to France. Give yourself time to prepare for anything that might influence your chances of finding a job there. Here are some useful resources you may want to consult:
