A new opportunity has arisen within the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner’s Commissioning Team, in the vital work of arranging services to support the PCC in delivering their statutory commissioning responsibilities. The PCC is responsible for commissioning and grant funding services to support victims of crime, reduce and prevent crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB). This role is key to making sure those services provide the best possible outcomes.
As a Commissioning and Grants Officer, you will work with the Commissioning Manager to deliver the PCC’s commissioning and grant funding responsibilities. Your key role will involve ensuring services comply with their obligations, assessing performance, risks, and outcomes, as well as identifying opportunities for development and improvement.
You will need to have a keen eye for detail and preferably have experience within contract management, commissioning, or procurement. High-level IT skills and an analytical approach are crucial to evaluate and interpret data from different sources. You should be able to identify and understand risks to effectively monitor service provision. Experience in working in partnerships with multiple stakeholders is essential. You must be adaptable to different audiences, enthusiastic, self-motivated, structured, and methodical in your approach. Dealing with multiple competing demands in a complex environment should be one of your strengths.
Strong interpersonal skills are a must, along with confidence in writing reports and presenting to senior managers. An A-level education or equivalent is required. Experience in a policing environment or possessing a project management qualification would be advantageous.
Kent OPCC offers smarter working with flexibility in the place of work, including the option to work from home. Specific requirements of this role will be discussed during the interview stages. In case of home working, regular attendance at a contractual workplace will be required.
