We are looking for an enthusiastic Quality Engineer, to be based at our Basildon, Essex site to support a number of Projects by assisting with the provision of Quality Assurance activities. This role is within our Integrated Sensing and Protection Line of Business, specifically covering the Sensors Sector, specifically Precision Guidance area.
The focus of the role is to be part of a team that manages and implements Quality in a highly regulated and technologically advanced business, along with being the Quality authority within the Integrated Project Team.
You will act as the Focal Point of Contact for both internal and external customers for all Quality matters throughout the life cycle of the projects you are assigned to.
On top of this, the post holder will be involved in the development, reinforcement and/or roll out of advanced quality techniques based on risk management and focussing on prevention of issues.
As part of the role, you will continuously be encouraged to reflect together with the teams on how to further develop the role of quality within the organisation considering aspects such as customer value co-creation, digitalisation, new technologies, removal of non-value added activities and the ever so important sustainability.
What you will do
Drive and promote Quality as well as deliver specific Quality outputs throughout the project/product Life Cycle by acting as the quality representative in integrated project teams. This includes activities such as
* Organising and facilitating Material/Failure Review Boards
* Developing Quality Plans, participating in customer investigations, etc.
* Drive Investigations and problem solving with the aim to improve performance (incl. cost of non-quality) and customer satisfaction
* Attendance and contribution at Sector, Programme and IPT meetings.
* Contribute towards creating enhanced working practices and promote continual improvement
* Perform Quality audits (process, product, system) across your line of business
* Actively participate in workshops on the future of the Quality Engineering role and processes
* Drive and assist in Project Lessons Learned activities to support continuous improvement.
What we are looking for
Practical experience working in a Quality / Project Assurance / engineering discipline within an electronics, avionic, automotive, defence, space or similar advanced manufacturing Industry
• A relevant qualification such as an engineering based degree, HND, BTECH, etc., or equivalent work experience
• Familiar with advance quality tools (e.g. FMEA, control plans), life cycle management and/or advanced product quality planning (APQP)
• Good knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis tools (e.g. 8D, DMAIC)
• Working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001
• Experience in quality auditing to AS9100/ISO9001/DAOS including the Supply Chain is a plus
• Have or has the ability to obtain SC level of security clearance (UK national)
• Able to understand technical documentation
• Passionate about technology and solution oriented thinker
• Proficient with IT, particularly MS Office
• Good organisational skills
• Good written and verbal communication
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail
• Practical, logical thinker to achieve objectives against set deadlines
• Ability to work independently and in teams with minimal need for supervision
• Ability to travel both nationally and internationally if required
