VSL Systems (UK) is experiencing growth and is in need of an experienced Supervisor for our Civil Works / Recurrent Business team. Our projects span various locations across the UK, so adaptability to different geographical areas is crucial. We offer support for travel and accommodation.

Are you prepared to advance your career in infrastructure maintenance and civil engineering? We're currently searching for a qualified individual to join us as a Civil Works Supervisor. In this role, technical proficiency is only one aspect of success. We're seeking someone with a passion for innovation, a knack for problem-solving, and a dedication to excellence in civil works projects. From managing projects involving highways and streets with traffic considerations to overseeing bridge repairs including bearing and joint replacement, concrete repairs, drainage, and waterproofing, your expertise will be invaluable. Experience in post-tensioning would be exceptional and highly regarded. This position offers a dynamic mix of technical proficiency and strategic thinking, providing opportunities for continuous learning and professional advancement in the realm of civil engineering and infrastructure maintenance.
Main Responsibilities:
* Participate in the preparation and organization of the site and team formation.
* Supervise and lead the team, organizing their work, checking schedules, production efficiency, quality, and safety.
* Execute structural works for in-house production from building plans or supervise subcontracted work.
* Maintain and manage inventory of plant, equipment, and materials required for team activities, ensuring proper reporting.
* Transmit information to superiors and the team.
* Assist in achieving required Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards on site.
* Provide necessary elements for daily expenditure checks, scheduling contingencies, and anomaly detection to superiors.
* Ensure tidiness and cleanliness of designated areas on the site.
* Apply and ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules, participating in their updating.
Technical Skills:
* Interpret and analyze complex drawings, execute the latest version of execution drawings.
* Supervise or conduct site setting out using surveyor-provided axes.
* Prepare diagrams and bills of quantities for structure executions.
* Develop simple work cycles and interpret/adjust execution schedules.
* Define personnel, tools, and plant needs for individual and collective protection.
* Schedule worker/day assignments for in-house production.
* Understand materials, equipment, and standard techniques for site structure.
* Possess basic understanding of mechanical reactions of reinforced concrete and other materials, and principles of temporary structure stability.
* Have elementary knowledge of finishing works techniques affecting structures.
Required Skills:
* Methodical, organized, meticulous, with common sense.
* Proficient in site techniques and numerical skills.
* Alignment with company values.
Required Experience:
* New recruits with a minimum of 3 years' experience beyond secondary school education.
* Senior Supervisor: Minimum 8 years' experience.
