Team Educate are recruiting for passionate teaching assistants who specialise in working with children with special educational needs. A school in the Penarth area are looking for teaching assistants to support their special needs resource base classroom on a temporary basis, with the opportunity of extending to permanent for the right candidate.
The role involves working with pupils on a 1 to 1 basis or a small group supporting their learning, encouraging confidence, independence, and positive behaviour.
A desirable special educational needs teaching assistant must have:
· Experience working in a SEN environment.
· Excellent communication skills
· Empathetic and nurturing characteristics
· High expectations of the children in their care
The special educational needs teaching assistant role includes:
· Providing 1:1 support
· Delivering group activities from the teachers planning
· Preparing and setting up resources
· Using your own initiative
· Developing literacy, numeracy and communication skills in children
