IO Associates: Senior Electrical Engineer Position
iO Associates have partnered with a high tech capital equipment manufacturer based in Newport in the search for a Senior Electrical Engineer. They are a global business and are in the process of moving to a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Newport. The company has secured major orders from key clients, indicating an upward trajectory for the business and making it a great time to join.
This new role has been created due to growth to support the increased workload. Reporting to the Platform Hardware Manager, you will provide engineering support to key customers. Initially, you will work within smaller R&D teams to gain experience of the products before transitioning to a 'core' engineering team.
On a day-to-day basis, your responsibilities will include designing components, making design changes based on customer requirements, regulatory changes, or obsolescence. You will also revise drawings for change orders when necessary and produce high-quality documentation packs, often adhering to customer-specific templates.
Key Requirements:
1. A Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
2. Proven experience in an electrical/electronic design role
3. Strong understanding of Machinery safety regulations and EU harmonized standards
4. Knowledge of regulations such as EN60204, EN13849 would be beneficial
5. Experience in the following areas:
o Fixed installation machines
o 3-phase power distribution for 400/200v systems and control boxes
o Wiring harness design
o AC/DC power distribution circuit design
6. Experience in completing detailed drawings for machine installation
7. Proficiency in producing drawings with AutoCad Electrical and willingness to learn a 3D CAD package such as SolidEdge
8. Able to confidently work with customers and suppliers
9. Capable of working to tight timelines
10. Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
11. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of small and extended teams
12. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment (ideally complex manufacturing)
In return, the successful candidate will receive a salary in the range of £40,000-£60,000 along with benefits including a matched 6% pension, 10% bonus, flexible working hours, and work-from-home opportunities. Please note that sponsorship is not available at this time.
