SUMMARY
The Laboratory Technician will form part of the Laboratory team and provide support towards activities performing analysis of clinical samples on both automated and manual platforms, working to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. Training will be given in all aspects of the role which will include set-up and maintenance of laboratory equipment, materials procurement and receipt, sample handling, data entry and general laboratory and housekeeping duties.

ATTRIBUTES:
* Educated to GCSE or A-Level or equivalent in a scientific subject.
* Laboratory experience is desirable
* Interested applicants should have excellent IT skills, be well-organised, enthusiastic and demonstrate a hands-on approach to work with an ability to use their initiative and apply knowledge.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Laboratory Support.Assesses work processes and makes suggestions to supervisor for improved work methods, efficiency and cost savings. Monitors departmental reagent and consumable inventories. Notifies appropriate personnel when supplies reach reorder level. Material procurement and receipt. Supports data entry across the Laboratory Information Systems. Participation in all activities that seek to ensure compliance with GCP requirements. Participate in internal departmental meetings. Promotes and supports a positive working environment. Participate fully in the general housekeeping of the laboratory, maintaining a clean, tidy and compliant working environment.
* Quality. Support towards activities that seek to ensure compliance with internal processes and external accreditation bodies (e.g. CAP, NEQAS). Documentation and ownership of quality events within the ACM Quality Management Systems. Participation in internal and external quality and regulatory audits as required.
* Maintenance.Ensuring all relevant maintenance is performed and documented as per SOPs. Assist in instrument and on-boarding and verification.
