About The Role
Have you ever desired to contribute to an exciting service that really makes a difference to everyone’s lives? As a vital member of our 111 team in Plymouth, you'll be doing precisely that!
This is your chance to train to be aHealth Advisorin our111 contact centre, handling calls from members of the public. You’ll learn how to use a state-of-the-art triage tool called NHSPathwaysto assess patients over the phone and direct them to the most appropriate care. Although these are not emergency calls, you’ll also need to be prepared to deal with emotional, distressing or life-threatening scenarios and to arrange for 999 services if required.
We are currently offering full-time and part-time roles between 16 - 37.5 hours per week to cover our core shifts and assist patients when they most need us. You must be willing and committed to work a mixture of weekdays and weekends.
Please note:We are offering only ready pre-made shift patterns to suit our business needs, once shortlisted we can send this over to you to have a look at.
Pay rates:
* £11.48 per hour– daytime and during training (07:00-23:00);
£14.27 per hour– contractual night rate (23:00-07:00);
£14.77 per hour –Red Zone weekend rate (subject to T&C’s when working more than 26 hours a week)
Training Options:
* Full-TimeMonday-Friday (9am-5pm) for 4 weeks (Onsite learning)
* Part-TimeTues, Weds, Thurs (6pm-10pm) and Sat-Sun (9am-5pm) for 6 weeks (Mixture of remote and onsite)
You must attend every training day. This is followed by a further eight weeks’ support before you are signed off as a fully accredited/licensed Pathways Health Advisor.

What you'll be doing
As part of 111, you will be the first point of contact for members of the public with a 24 hour urgent but non-emergency health concern, you will beproviding advice and signposting assistance to onward care utilising the NHS Pathways triage system.
Following assessment, our Health Advisors can:
* If they are well, advice and support on accessing local services such as general practice, dentists, pharmacies and other healthcare services.
* If they have a query about their medication, immediate support from a pharmacist.
* If they are unwell or calling on behalf of a child or someone they care for who is unwell, providing over the phone-assessment, identification of the most appropriate care for the issue and appropriate advice for managing the condition at the time.
* Transfer calls to our clinical assessment service which is on hand 24/7 to provide expert advice, assessment and support, preventing the need for patients to make further calls.

Once successful in your Interview, we will invite you to the contact centre to listen to live patient calls with one of our Health Advisor coaches. This will give you an opportunity to immerse yourself in the contact centre environment, hear first-hand the type of cases we receive and ask questions of someone already in the role. This will be subject to you signing a confidentiality agreement.
What we’ll look for in you
What you will need:
* GCSE/Functional SkillsEnglish and Mathsat Grade C (or equivalent) or above.
* Excellentlistening and communicationskills, ideally with IT and keyboard skills, plus some previous experience of working and communicating with the public.
* A realpassionfor helping other people, with the ability to learn all sorts of new skills and to thrive anddevelop in a fun, friendly, well-supported team.
