Housing Advice and Homelessness Officer
Regeneration and Housing Services
37 Hours
Salary Range Scale 6 (£29,269 – £31,364)
We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping people meet their housing needs and helping households who are either homeless or threatened with homelessness. The post sits within the Council’s Housing Advice and Homelessness Team. This is a really rewarding role where you can make a real difference to a person’s or household’s quality of life.

This includes responsibility for providing general housing advice and with responsibility for assessing, determining, and advising households who are either homeless or threatened with homelessness from a diverse range of backgrounds and circumstances. On occasion this means dealing with vulnerable people with complex and challenging needs.
This requires a positive, person centred approach which is both sensitive to the circumstances and helpful with realistic and deliverable housing solutions.
The post holder will work with a range of stakeholders from the public, private and voluntary sectors to help prevent homelessness or deliver long term, sustainable re-housing solutions.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in housing, especially homelessness and meeting housing need with a good understanding of the relevant legislation. In addition candidates will be required to demonstrate:
* Good organisational and communication skills
* A positive attitude and motivated to help vulnerable people
* A good standard of education and qualifications
* Experience of working with a range of statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies ideally in the housing sector
* Able to work with limited supervision and confident in making decisions
* A solution- oriented approach to demonstrate problem solving abilities
If you are passionate about providing an excellent customer service and helping households who are either homeless or in housing need we would really like to hear from you. We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements (you will be required to work 3 days a week in the office) with very good working conditions.
