LUC’s finance team is well established and has an emphasis on working together and supporting each other. We constantly look for opportunities to improve and develop. The team is based across our London, Bristol, Sheffield and Glasgow offices and supports the whole of LUC.
This is an exciting time to join the team as we are replacing our project accounting system. This role would suit a part-qualified individual looking to further their experience and LUC would offer study support whilst being supported by and reporting to the Senior Project Accountant.
Purpose of the role
* Supporting the project managers in setting up/maintaining project finances in line with LUCs established procedures and protocols.
* Ensuring projects have all necessary accounting information and that this information is kept up to date.
* Critically reviewing monthly work in progress with project managers/directors.
* Providing ad hoc training to professional staff on the project accounting system.
* Regular involvement in managing the finances on our largest projects.
* Occasional visits to other offices to meet with project managers/directors.
* Review and critically assess project profitability.
* Providing other finance support as required.
* Producing both regular and ad hoc reports from the system.

A full-time role would be based on 37.5 hours Monday to Friday. However, LUC has a strong track record in flexible working and we have been recognised for our flexible working culture, so we are happy to discuss a range of flexible working options for this role including part time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) if desired.

The successful candidate will be organised and efficient with a keen interest in furthering their career within accountancy. The successful individual will be passionate about working within an award-winning environmental consultancy, supporting with the aim to make a difference and impact: delivering better futures for nature, people, and places.
Experience and qualifications
* AAT qualification/degree in a relevant subject (finance/business studies).
* Excellent communication skills with internal and external business partners.
* Confident using Excel and used to handling large amounts of data.
* Commitment to work towards an accountancy qualification (supported by LUC).
* Experience in using accounting systems (Sage) – on the job training will be provided.
