Shooting Star Children’s Hospices
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or who have been bereaved. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, we support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.
Our specialist care and support is free of charge to families and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It includes specialist nursing in the community, symptom management and pain relief, overnight respite stays, end-of-life care, specialist bereavement care and a comprehensive range of therapies, groups and clinics for the whole family.
At the heart of what we do are our dedicated staff; their exceptional commitment and professionalism means every family has the opportunity to make every moment count.
It costs £10 million a year to run Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. Just 30% of our funding comes from the government, so we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running. We employ 175 members of staff, including 98 nursing and medical staff, and support around 700 families.
Introduction to Strategy and Partnerships Team
The Strategy and Partnerships Team focuses on developing and implementing strategic initiatives to advance the Hospices mission and expand its impact. The team builds and nurtures partnerships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, government agencies, corporate sponsors, and community organisations, to enhance service delivery, raise awareness, and secure resources for the hospices. We also analyse market trends, conduct research, and develop long-term plans to ensure the sustainability and growth of Shooting Star Children's Hospices.
Part 1: Job Profile
Main purpose of job
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices (SSCH) has an ambitious 5 year strategy with a number of key objectives and targets.
The project manager will be responsible for the management and delivery of a number of projects aligned to our Strategy and to support the development of change capability across the organisation by promoting best practice. This will include managing projects through lifecycle (both new & existing) and taking responsibility for delivering on time, to budget & according to customer expectations/standards
Work relationships
The post holder reports to the Head of Strategy and Partnerships and will be responsible for supporting temporary project teams brought together to deliver specific projects. They will support teams across the organisation in the coordination and delivery of projects, within budget, scope and to the timings agreed.
This is an important role which requires someone who can work across multiple projects and promote successful cross-functional working.
This role will support organisational projects that have been classified as requiring centralised project management resource. This may include projects from any area of the organisation including Clinical Services, Income Generation, Volunteering, IT, Marketing and Digital, Finance, People and Culture and Strategy and Partnerships.

Part 2: Main duties and key responsibilities
To be the designated Project Manager for any strategic organisational change projects
Deliver projects across the organisation, on time, within budget and to the agreed scope.
* with project teams to develop project plans and documentation and guide teams through the project lifecycle.
* project roles and responsibilities are established for each project and ensure all stakeholders are aware of the project management processes that they will participate in.
* project risks, issues and changes and monitor project progress, ensuring stakeholders are updated and everyone can meet their required deliverables within the project timescales.
* for identifying and managing stakeholder engagement and communication needs.
* regular progress reports for all stakeholders including project teams, Director Team, Organisational Leadership Team and Trustees, escalating risks and issues where necessary.
* project reviews to capture successes and learnings and ensure project outcomes are embedded into Business as Usual (BAU).
* the costs and budgets assigned to the projects.
* resources (internal and external) to deliver the change, negotiating with internal managers if necessary.
* a reporting suite or use other project management tools to help track and monitor progress.
Other duties
* post holder must be able and willing to get to and work in both hospices
The post holder should be prepared to attend meetings in different parts of the country.Some meetings may be during evenings or weekends.

Qualifications
* level education or equivalent; Masters level qualification highly desirable.
* Project Management Qualification (PMQ, PPQ, PMP etc.)
Experience
* of continued professional development.
* experience of project management in a variety of organisations / fields.
* ability to work with and influence a variety of different internal and external stakeholders.

* knowledge of change management.
* and confidence working with Microsoft Office and project software.
