We are looking for a motivated individual with good lab-based skills to join our Applied Development team as a Scientist. This position supports the development of new nanopore sample preparation kits for use in diagnostic / clinical applications.
The Details...
Our Applied Development team is responsible for the development, optimisation, and verification of sequencing preparation products which are designed to handle a large variety of DNA and RNA sample types, specific to customer's needs. Reporting to the Applied and Regulated Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in development of new protocols and biochemical components, and their deployment into new and existing sample-preparation products.
Hands-on experience in two or more of the following areas is required:
* Handling and characterisation of DNA/RNA and proteins.
* Experience in DNA/RNA extraction.
* Execution of biochemical/biophysical assays (e.g. RT-qPCR and/or other fluorescence and plate-based techniques).
* Experience with assay design, development, and optimisation.
Responsibilities include:
* Development, optimisation, and verification of preparation workflows
* Development of Biochemical and biophysical assays.
* Testing / optimising new components prior to release.
* Operation of our Nanopore range of sequencing devices and associated software.
* Data analysis (from basic data manipulation to more complex bioinformatic pipelines.)
What We're Looking For...
The successful candidate will hold a degree in physical, chemical, or biological sciences and will have good laboratory experience (several years' experience in a similar environment). The candidate should have a strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
Training will be given and, as such, a willingness to learn and develop is essential.
