The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is responsible for ensuring that the University complies with data protection laws and regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and others. The DPO will oversee the development and implementation of data protection policies, conduct audits, manage data subject requests, and serve as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Law, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in data protection/privacy are a plus.
* Experience: Experience in data protection, privacy, compliance, or related fields.
* Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.
* Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar are preferred.
* Skills: Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
