We are looking for people who love to teach the subject(s) they are passionate about! Whether that be maths, English/ESOL, IT, craft, art, child development, health and wellbeing, music, parenting, supporting children's learning, or something else, we'd like to hear from you.
Learn Telford is a provider of adult and community learning and is funded by the ESFA and DfE.Our courses run in community venues across the borough of Telford and Wrekin and we work hard to reach the sections of the community that need us most.
The core of what we do is to improve basic skills such English, maths and IT/digital skills, however we also offer a wide range of courses in lots of other subject areas. Courses can vary in length from a few weeks to a full academic year and may also lead to a qualification.Much of what we do is about improving our learners' confidence and self-esteem to enable them to progress onto longer courses leading to qualifications. We also offer progression routes through the Access to Higher Education and other level 3 courses.
The tutor contract is variable hours and the amount of hours you work can vary depending on what subject you teach and how in-demand it is.Some tutors teach just one session per work, others work almost full-time, particularly if they teach one of our core subjects. The volume of work you are looking for is something we can discuss at interview.
We are a hardworking and supportive team and we care about providing high-quality learning to our learners. We were last inspected by Ofsted in 2022 and were judged Good in all areas. Last year we had 2600 enrolments and delivered courses in over 50 community venues.
Ideally we would like to recruit tutors who already hold a relevant teaching qualification and have some experience of teaching adults or children. However, we are also willing to consider people who are not yet qualified, if they hold a qualification at level 3 or above in the subject they wish to teach and can articulate why they feel they would make a great adult learning tutor.
The tutor hourly rate is £24.62 to £26.63, plus 20% planning and preparation time, plus annual leave, plus hours for assessment and marking
If you would like an informal chat about the role, please email richard.probert@telford.gov.uk to arrange a suitable time.
