In Europe, AEW manages €40 billion in properties of all types located in 14 countries across Europe.
The London office is the second largest after Paris where the headquarters are located and has executed some of the largest European transactions with some individual deals in the €200-€500 million range. The investment team in our London office sources and executes pan-European real estate transactions for the benefit of AEW’s various property funds and separate accounts. Whilst the team deals with all types of real estate, it specializes in value-add and opportunistic transactions.
MAIN ACTIVITIES & TASKS :
The Investment Analyst is expected to assist the investment team mostly through Excel-based analytical support, closely working with the other members of the team.
They will spend a large proportion of their time on:
* Financial/cash flow modeling in MS Excel, at un-leveraged, leveraged and post-tax cash-flow levels, including JV and/or promote waterfall mechanisms;
* Writing investment memos and recommendations for the investment committee in MS Powerpoint or MS Word;
* Gathering and summarising property market research.
Based on the level of experience, speed of progression and deal flow, the Investment Analyst may also be involved in coordinating market, legal and technical consultants throughout the acquisition due diligence process, as well as responding to inquiries from clients or providers of capital.
The London office is lean and reactive so the right candidate is expected to show some flexibility with regard to the range of possible tasks that he/she could be assigned.
KEY-INTERACTIONS
Internal: predominantly the other members of the Investment team but all the other employees as required.
External: Advisors/ joint venture partners.
Functional Report: Head of Investment.
COMPETENCIES
Academic:
* Strong academic record with good first degree in economics or a business/finance related subject;
* Real estate degree an advantage.
Technical :
* 1-2 years work experience in Real Estate Private Equity or Investment Management
* Very strong analytical and quantitative skills;
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and its advanced functions;
* Ability to model real-estate cash-flow with nested logic functions an advantage;
* An Excel/modelling test will be given following a successful interview;
* Good knowledge of MS Word and MS Powerpoint;
* Good written and oral communications skills;
* Understanding of real estate valuation an advantage.
