Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Lead - CAMHS Community Eating Disorders (Band 8b) - Clinical Psychology - CAMHS Community Eating Disorders - Somerset NHS Foundation Trust
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Principal Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead in our CAMHS Community Eating Disorders Service (CEDS).
The team provides a high quality, comprehensive community mental health service for children and young people experiencing eating disorders and eating difficulties, as well as supporting the families of these clients, providing overall coordination of care and treatment. We are looking for a new person to provide clinical leadership.
As part of this role, you will provide supervision and consultation to support the interventions provided by more junior psychologists and other clinical members of the team, and liaising with professional partners.
You will also have opportunity to offer direct clinical psychology services to children and young people with complex eating disorders or eating related difficulties and their carers, utilising evidence-based interventions focused on individuals, families and wider systems.
This role would suit an existing 8b clinical psychologist seeking to further their leadership and service development skills and develop specialist knowledge. It could also suit a psychologist who is currently employed as an 8a, who would like to advance their career. Somerset CAMHS is a nurturing and supportive service that believes in investing in talent. Full funding is available for training and professional development.
We are seeking a confident, motivated and enthusiastic person, with proven leadership skills and a vision for improving the delivery of formulation driven, psychological interventions.
Knowledge and experience of a range of models of assessment, formulation and treatment to support young people presenting with complex difficulties is essential for this post. Providing supervision, support and training within the multidisciplinary team and across clinical networks will be an important feature of this senior role.
Experience within a CAMHS service, or relevant provision, including working with children, young people and their families is desirable. Knowledge and experience of working with disordered eating is also desirable, but it is not a barrier if you do not have direct experience. We are keen to hear about your transferable skills!
Personal qualities will include excellent listening and communication skills; an ability to support and facilitate effective communication in teams; resilience at times of change in the service and skills in supporting reflection and well being in both yourself and others. Research, audit and QI will be encouraged. There are opportunities to support the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training at the University of Exeter.
In the most recent CQC inspection in September 2023 Somerset CAMHS was rated “OUTSTANDING.”
As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, pension contributions, market leading annual leave allowance, career progression, and regular conversations, not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.
The benefits of working in Somerset include the idyllic countryside, with our areas of outstanding beauty and stunning coastlines. You will get to enjoy these perks whilst still only being a stone's throw away from bustling city centres like Bristol, Bath and Exeter and only two hours away from London.
There are excellent educational facilities in the area and, when compared to other regions, house prices are reasonable. You will experience the best of both in Somerset, the countryside and the cosmopolitan - there is truly something for everyone!
The team has strong links with other CAMHS teams, the acute paediatric team, and partnership agencies, to provide holistic support for young people.
You'll be encouraged to access suitable supportive networks, including the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Child Psychology Meetings and CPD events.
This post is countywide, and so a full UK driving licence and a vehicle to enable travel around the county, when necessary, is essential.
