Working as a key member of the Kohler Mira New Product Development management team, you will be responsible for leading the continuous development of our products, ensuring Kohler Mira’s high engineering standards are maintained throughout the entire product life cycle. The role plays a pivotal part in championing quality, value engineering and continuous advancement of a diverse product portfolio across Kohler Mira’s product categories – Mixers, Electrics, Digital, Trays, Enclosures and Energy Recovery. The role will interact with products across all of the core UK brands – Mira, Rada, Kohler UK & Recoup.
You will lead a talented team of engineers driving current product portfolio integrity initiatives to reduce warranty and maximise customer satisfaction, whilst championing the building and maintenance of best practice process and procedures to ensure lessons learned are carried forward in all new product development.
Specific Responsibilities
* A key member of the Kohler Mira New Product Development leadership team providing strategic input from a current product development and technical viewpoint.
* Working with the NPD Director and leadership team to develop processes, policies and procedures to achieve World Class standards, feeding in the lessons learned from the current product portfolio.
* Acts as a point of design authority in the new product development process & validation stages to ensure new products delivered to market will meet the high standards set and deliver acceptable product warranty levels in the field.
* As a senior manager in the business, maintain high standards of customer satisfaction and guarantee the integrity of current products in the market throughout the product’s entire life cycle.
* Continuously gathering customer & user feedback, analysing data, and making incremental improvements to the current product portfolio.
* Makes informed strategic decisions for the current product portfolio, balancing a range of key metrics including product warranty, quality, value engineering, approvals & compliance.
* Partner with Customer Services to understand & gather field-based feedback, communicating improvement initiatives.
* Interact with Manufacturing & Operations to understand production and supplier quality issues, and support through product engineering changes.
* Coordinate with Product Marketing to manage the current product portfolio and make recommendations for product withdrawal.
* Oversees Engineering Changes to ensure product integrity is always maintained.
* Reports on product warranty and improvement initiatives to the Kohler Mira executive team.
* Provide leadership and mentoring to team members within CPD function. Developing a well-balanced and trained team capable of delivering World Class results. Coaching team to develop, implement solutions to complex issues & balance business priorities.
* Applies people management processes and techniques to ensure personnel development opportunities are maximised. This includes career management (CM), Succession Planning and training programmes.
Skills/Requirements
* Preferably a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a product development related discipline (e.g. Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or Design)
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in project or program management within a product engineering function. Results must demonstrate an ability to build teams, make sound decisions and drive action across geographical boundaries & cross functionally.
* A strong understanding of improvement tools such as Six Sigma and Kaizen
