We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, proactive, and determined Safeguarding Officer to join our business and perform a key role within Coventry City FC’s Academy.
Within the role of Safeguarding Officer,the successful applicant will be responsible for the safeguarding provision a tour Academy, providing exceptional support, developing a positive culture and establishing a credible and influential presence at our Academy.
We’re looking for someone to champion and promote safeguarding within the Academy whilst always leading from the front. You’ll play an integral part of our team – are you ready for the challenge?

Flexibility is required for this role as you will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends in line with the Academy’s team fixtures.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
* Be a main point of contact and deal with all Academy Safeguarding concerns.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records on MyConcern in line with GDPR.
* Assess information from staff regarding concerns about children and vulnerable adults and make referrals as appropriate.
* Have a clear understanding of the EFL Safeguarding Standards, EPPP, FA and statutory guidance in relation to safeguarding and ensure the Academy staff are well informed with any changes in relevant policies.
* Ensure that action plans as a result of audit(s) are prioritised, and that the safeguarding strategy is implemented and followed as directed by the Head of Safeguarding.
* Work with Academy Safeguarding team and staff to ensure that safeguarding is a key consideration in key activities and that there is a safeguarding safetyplan in place for every activity, and all staff understand their safeguarding responsibility.
* Attend regular meetings with DSOs, HOS and SSM.
* Ensure DBS checks are in place for all Academy staff and volunteers.
* Conduct robust initial investigations of all safeguarding concerns raised by children, their families, colleagues, and/or external parties/professionals to legislative and best practice requirements with guidance from the Head of Safeguarding.
* Conduct Academy safeguarding onboarding programme including induction and training for new/existing staff and undertake safeguarding training with all Academy staff/volunteers annually. Ensuring all staff are trained how to use MyConcern.
* Coach, support and develop staff understanding to ensure high standards of care, values, ethics, equality and diversity, policies and procedures and safeguarding legislation.
* Provide advice and support to all staff, volunteers, and associates of the Club in relation to safeguarding concerns and queries.

About The Candidate
Person Specification
* Understand the role and responsibilities of statutory agencies, including Local Safeguarding Children Boards
* Understand and adhere to the Club’s policies and procedures related to safeguarding and protecting children
* have an understanding of the EFL rules relating to safeguarding
* Knowledge of safeguarding best practice, safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and regulation impacting on the protection of children and adults at risk.
* The ability to demonstrate a strong conviction regarding the need to safeguard children at risk, exercising the highest standards of confidentiality and to work sensitively with those affected by issues of safeguarding
* Approachable and caring personality with good interpersonal and communication skills
* Respect and consideration of others and generosity in sharing knowledge and expertise
* Flexible and adaptable attitude towards work
* Highest levels of personal integrity and ability to maintain trust, sensitivity and confidentiality.
* Enhanced DBS certificate
* Ability to manage own time effectively
* Experience within football would be advantageous
