We are currently seeking a dynamic Project Engineer to join our accomplished team based in Doncaster. As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and executing a range of projects for our expanding client portfolio within the UK rail industry. Your focus will encompass maintenance, overhaul, and engineering of traction & rolling stock fleets.
Reporting directly to the Engineering and Operations Director, the Project Engineer will serve as both a Project Manager and a contributor to engineering work packages within a collaborative team environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing projects and delivering technical tasks within defined project parameters.
* Implementing Maintenance or Overhaul Optimization strategies for traction & rolling stock fleets.
* Generating technical documentation and reports.
* Engaging in offsite work across the UK in addition to office-based tasks.
* Chairing meetings with clients and industry professionals of all levels.
* Maintaining continuous communication with clients throughout project development and execution.
* Conducting vehicle inspections on various Rolling Stock/ Plant Equipment.
* Performing Risk Assessments and Risk Analysis associated with engineering changes.
* Analyzing maintenance costs and proposing solutions to enhance performance-to-cost ratio.
* Identifying failure trends/frequencies and determining root causes.
* Fulfilling additional duties as assigned by senior management.
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and demonstrate experience in some of the following areas:
* Proficiency in planning, managing, and delivering projects within stipulated timelines and budgets.
* Strong communication and presentation skills for interactions with peers and clients.
* Practical expertise in rolling stock engineering and/or maintenance.
* Exceptional technical report writing abilities.
* Experience conducting process and production audits.
* Background in fleet engineering.
* Familiarity with modern rolling stock and associated systems.
* Incorporation or Chartered Engineer status with a professional body (or working towards it).
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or an HND with significant relevant experience.
* Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Knowledge of rail industry standards.
