Head of Scientists
Location: Beautiful Central Bath (remote considered)
Hours: Full time, 37.5/week, (p/t considered)
Pay: £34,500 pa
Start date: ASAP
Overview
We connect school students with scientists*. We are looking for someone to join our growing team to lead the enlisting and management of scientists for all of our projects.
You’ll work with our funders to get their members and staff signed up to our award-winning projects. You’ll support the project director with bringing funders on board and co-manage the project support team.
*It’s not just scientists. There are engineers, computer scientists, geographers, historians, mathematicians, medics, designers and possibly another astronaut.
Core responsibilities
1. Work as part of the team delivering the I’m a… programme of engagement projects.
2. Lead and improve processes for the recruitment & retention of scientists for the project
3. Work with the Comms team to create promotional materials
4. Manage the support team to ensure regular and appropriate communication is happening with our existing contacts
5. Improve the level and quality of engagement of the participating scientists
6. Improve the onboarding processes to ensure scientists gain as much as possible from participating.
7. Work with the Event Team and facilitator to manage the IAS Academy
8. Champion scientists
9. Review our sites and processes from a scientist’s perspective
10. Celebrate our scientists’ achievements
11. Support the Project Director in working with funding partners
12. Manage a portfolio of funder relations
13. Manage project reporting
14. Project Management
15. In addition to looking after our scientists, there will be responsibility for project management on some of our projects.
Your qualities
You should...
* Be web literate. We work online a lot.
* Have 2 years experience of working in STEM engagement or equivalent.
* Proactively organise really rather well.
