Main purpose of the role:
Lead the UK, Ireland and Nordics Revenue Management team in optimising revenue across all
Europcar brands and channels to exceed company targets. Deliver effective forecasting of customer demand both at a planning and operational timeline to support revenue, fleet and operational planning. Optimize the mix of business we accept to achieve strategic objectives, using the range of RM availability levers and coordinating plans and actions closely with Pricing, Capacity, Sales, and Operations.
Motivate and coach a high performing team, to achieve commercial objectives and deliver significant change in best practice and team processes. Be the champion for developing RCM technology. A senior commercial leadership role within the organisation, with extensive decision making autonomy and responsibility for day to day delivery of revenue forecasting to ensure demand meets supply, and a key player in ensuring the delivery of the cluster revenue performance.
Main duties of the role:
1. Revenue Planning and Forecasting
* Lead the delivery of revenue planning, across all time horizons. Lead annual budget revenue planning, monthly re-forecasts and short term operational revenue forecast at a micro level.
* Own the demand and revenue forecasting process for the cluster. Deliver highly accurate multi channel demand forecasts for each market in the cluster, incorporating external quantitative and qualitative market demand inputs and organising the systematic gathering of demand assumptions from stakeholders across all sales channels to produce consolidated unconstrained and constrained demand forecasts. Work closely with the Financial Planning team, to refine the forecast, in each cycle.
* Maintain an effective, timely and accurate operational forecast, to support capacity and operations planning at a micro market group/location level.
* Ensure the seamless flow and management of an accurate demand forecast for the group revenue management system to drive effective price optimisation.
2. Trading and RM optimisation
* Lead Revenue Management team activity, using the range of availability mix management levers available to optimise the value of bookings we accept and ensuring overall demand meets available supply to achieve utilisation targets.
* Identify revenue opportunities as part of the forecasting process, and work together with Pricing and Capacity Management to recommend opportunities where price as a lever can be used to grow or slow demand or capacity changes can improve performance.
3. Best Practice
* Lead and facilitate the development, documentation and continuous improvement of best practice for Revenue Management processes. WHY, WHAT, HOW and WHEN for every activity managed within the team. Facilitate the team in developing the BP.
* Development of KPI’s for team, measuring effectiveness of actions and activity in addition to the commercial result.
4. RCM technology development
* Be the champion supporting the development and leading the implementation of RCM technology and best practice in the cluster, in line with the Group RCM developments.
* Contribute to the development of integrated RCM processes, and coordinated RCM interface to the wider business.
4. Team Leadership
* Lead and motivate the team to maintain a positive and supportive, results driven, trading environment.
* Coach and performance manage your team against the objectives agreed in the PDR, supported by 121 meetings and a weekly team meeting to agree and review actions.
* Plan and manage the activities of your team to support delivery of the core revenue targets.
* Measure and prioritise activity in the team to align to key objectives. Simplify and standardise where possible to deliver improved efficiency.
* Document individual objectives and development needs in the PDR for each team member.
5. Effective communication and stakeholder management
* Effective stakeholder management at a senior level, to bring together diverse views from channel owners and gain buy-in to an agreed revenue plan, and manage ongoing trade-offs in availability between channel owners.
* Effective communications is a key performance measure for this role, given the wide ranging impact that RM decisions have on the rest of the business.
* Ensure effective, concise, timely, predefined communications are built into team processes to ensure key stakeholders are proactively made aware of changes which may affect them.
* Development of visual MI to support effective stakeholder communications, concise views of RM actions and key changes. Focus on simple key messages, tailored to the audience.
* Lead the RM update in the weekly trading meeting.
* Deputise for RCM Director as required.
6. Qualifications, experience, skills and capabilities
* Degree level BA or Masters ideally
* Significant Revenue Management and Pricing experience ideally in Car rental, Airline or Hotel sector
* Proven success in managing people.
* Expert data management and analytical skills.
* Data and target driven, with a strong bias to analysis driven decision making.
* Excellent organisational and planning capabilities and working to tight deadlines to meet budget submission deadlines.
* Comfortable managing ambiguity.
7. Role Scope:
* c£500m annual Revenue
* Up to 5 direct reports across the cluster.
* Reporting to Cluster RCM Director
