The facade Design Manager forms part of the Design / Consultancy team within the global structure of the company and assumes general responsibilities that proactively contribute to the growth of Façade Design capabilities and all other disciplines across the globe.
This includes responsibility for all design, documentation, administration and compliance with project constraints undertaken for Façade and all other disciplines. You will also need to fulfil legal responsibilities commensurate with your position.
The following is an overview of the responsibilities and performance standards required of the Facade
Design Manager:
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Produce details of façade systems based on architectural sketches and assist in the delivery of detailed façade tender and shop drawing packages.
* Provide 2D drafting using Autocad software for architectural documentation and detailed working drawings such as architectural façade tender submissions and shop drawing packages for Façade/Curtain wall projects and prepare material schedules
* Provide 3D drafting using AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Solidworks and/or Sketchup Pro to develop 3-dimensional details for the purposes of design development and/or drawing documentation as required
* Interpret and produce fabrication-level detailed drawings, sketches and written instructions
* On-site design monitoring if necessary
* Experience with Roofing, curtain walling, SFS, and relevant Façade system
* Prepare façade technical specifications
* Coordinate with the relevant parties to raise/resolve project-related issues which could affect the delivery of the documentation
* Review and evaluate design deliverables to ensure buildability and compliance, liaising with the client’s design team and specialist suppliers
* Coordinate with the relevant parties to raise/resolve project-related issues which could affect the delivery of the documentation and update your manager/project leader as required
* Assist engineers and design team in regards to CAD or hand sketches for presentation purposes as required
* Monitor Design output from offices across the region and review shop drawings from contractors
* Liaise with other staff, project teams, associated consultants and clients, and assist in building and maintaining relationships to determine the best façade design outcomes
* Actively participate in design workshops and meetings, where cladding solutions are explored and determined. Workshops and meetings will be with clients, architects and contractors
* Provide training in Design to other members of the team as required
* Develop own skills in design, engineering, materials, etc.
* Keep an up-to-date working knowledge of relevant design techniques, technical standards, codes of practice and systems and procedures and share knowledge and update technical library
* Keep up to date with design software new to the market that will help develop our business
* Evaluate opportunities for improved efficiencies and effectiveness in consultation with management including identifying, developing and implementing standards, systems, tools and processes to support continuous improvement within the business
* Take an active interest in the other disciplines (Design Documentation, Building Physics/ESD/PassivHaus, Acoustics, Logistics, BMU/Remedial, Lighting etc..) to further develop your specialist skills
