Senior Estimator - Social Housing
Job Summary:
The Senior Estimator plays a crucial role in ensuring cost-effective building practices within the social housing sector. They are responsible for estimating costs, managing budgets, and overseeing procurement processes. This position is offered on a fixed-term contract (FTC) basis for 6–12 months, with a salary range of £44,000 to £45,000.
Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation and Analysis:
* Accurately estimate the cost of construction projects related to social housing.
* Analyse data to prepare budgets and subsequent valuations.
1. Procurement and Material Management:
* Procure subcontractors, materials, and goods following established procedures.
* Implement a payments system for subcontractors and material suppliers.
1. Budget Control and Site Costs:
* Prepare commercial cost appraisals and feasibility analyses.
* Monitor site costs and budgets throughout development.
* Ensure cost overruns are within tolerance levels.
1. Site Development Support:
* Collaborate with site development teams to achieve targets.
* Contribute to conceptual designs/options for site valuation.
1. Team Management:
* Manage the work of the surveying team.
* Provide clear guidelines and support for team members.
1. Compliance and Reporting:
* Ensure compliance with group IT systems.
* Report to the Commercial Director in a standardised format.
Qualifications:
* Proven track record in a similar role or at the level of Quantity Surveyor.
* Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail.
* The ability to gather, interpret, and present data effectively.
