Principal Manufacturing Engineer / Production Engineer Responsibilities
The Principal Manufacturing Engineer / Production Engineer will focus on:
1. Providing technical leadership to the production team.
2. Driving the optimization of manufacturing processes and resolving complex technical challenges.
3. Planning and delivering work across medium-term planning horizons.
4. Researching and developing initiatives to implement advanced technologies and best practices.
5. Staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
6. Implementing improvements to manufacturing efficiency by analyzing capacity, planning workflows, space requirements, and equipment layout.
7. Ensuring strict adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements, quality standards, and safety protocols.
8. Leading production-related projects such as process improvements, equipment upgrades, and capacity expansion.
9. Training engineers and production staff to transfer technical knowledge and develop skills.
10. Undertaking line management responsibilities for an allocated team of Production Engineers.
11. Defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and developing strategies for ongoing progress monitoring.
Principal Manufacturing Engineer / Production Engineer Specification
The ideal candidate should:
* Have the right to live and work in the UK with the ability to obtain suitable level security clearance.
* Possess a degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
* Have experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
* Demonstrate people management and leadership skills.
* Understand cross-functional/commercial business processes and their impact.
* Have knowledge and experience of multiple phases of the Product Life Cycle.
* Be proficient in risk assessments, report writing, and communication.
* Be proficient in MS Office.
Working Hours
This role typically requires a 4.5-day week: Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30. Flexibility is required to support business needs.
