Our client are an A rated Global Carrier who are seeking a Head of Underwriting to lead their Cyber underwriting strategy.
The Head of Cyber will also develop and have responsibility for the wider cyber underwriting strategy, appetite & guidelines, developing innovative cyber product offerings and utilising the strong capital base of their A+ rated security as the business rolls out their wider EU strategy in the medium term.
The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial with a hands on approach and an underwriting expert in Cyber with a strong technical background.
Responsibilities:
Underwriting Strategy and Results: Responsible for the growth and technical results of the Cyber Line. Setting out and delivering budget/P&L for the UK including Loss Ratio, Commission and Expenses. Inform the business of strategic development opportunities to expand Cyber in the UK, seeking support from Underwriting Committee and Board.
Underwriting: utilising your deep knowledge of cyber risks to evaluate and underwrite complex cyber insurance submissions, ensuring accurate pricing, terms, and conditions. Reviewing business placed on a monthly basis and ensuring it is in line with strategy.
Limit Exposures and Reinsurance: Reviewing limit exposures and identifying if reinsurance in place remains suitable. Participate in structuring reinsurance solutions.
Partnership Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with distribution, acting as the primary point of contact for underwriting inquiries, risk assessments, and portfolio management.
Risk Assessment: Analyse cyber risk exposures referrals using data analytics, risk assessment tools, and industry insights to make informed underwriting decisions.
Product expertise: Sound product expertise to enable potential enhancement of cyber insurance products based on market trends, emerging risks, MGA feedback, etc. that address the evolving needs of clients in the UK market.
Portfolio Oversight: Monitor the performance of the cyber insurance portfolio, ensuring profitability, adherence to underwriting guidelines, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Market Analysis & Intelligence: Stay informed about industry developments, cyber threats, emerging trends and technologies to provide guidance on underwriting strategy and risk selection. Stay informed about, regulatory changes, and advancements in cyber risk, using this knowledge to inform product design and business decisions.
Client Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with MGA (s), clients, brokers, and key stakeholders, providing expert advice on cyber risk management and insurance solutions Collaborate with distribution channels to address client inquiries, provide technical assistance, and contribute to business development efforts.
Performance Analysis: Analyse the performance of partnerships, assessing key metrics and working with MGAs to optimize portfolio results.
