Purpose
Our technology is used by thousands of companies and affects millions of lives. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of software development and deployment. You will perform and create automated and manual tests to ensure the software produced by developers is fit for purpose, analyze software and systems, mitigate risk and prevent software issues.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, code, test, and debug technical solutions including complex components, ensuring quality standards are achieved.
* Provide product support (fixing defects) in older technologies and help transition legacy products to newer web technologies.
* Write clean, well‑designed, documented/commented code, following best practices.
* Estimate effort required to accomplish requirements and ensure schedules are met.
* Collaborate with other team members to help specify, design, and develop software, meeting product requirements.
* Identify process deficiencies and propose and implement solutions and improvements.
* Ensure that technical implementations are sound, defect rates are minimised, and products are inexpensive to maintain and support.
* Work with the security team to ensure data security standards are always met.
* Take responsibility for personal development, keeping knowledge and skills up to date, including emerging trends relevant to solutions being developed.
* Continuously seek innovative solutions and make suggestions for improvements that benefit the business in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
* Be willing to listen to and support colleagues with professional problems, devoting time to sharing knowledge, infusing confidence, and expressing positive expectations.
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications
* 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role.
* Experience in Java or Microsoft C#.
* Good understanding and experience of SQL.
* Understanding of APIs / REST.
* Experience in unit testing.
* Good knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice.
* Awareness of current trends and developments in software engineering.
* Experience with Agile (Scrum) methodologies and project management.
* Ability to identify technical risks and propose alternative solutions.
* Degree level or equivalent education in a relevant subject such as computer science, computer engineering, information management systems, software development or business information systems.
Desirable
* Experience in JavaScript/Angular/Knockout.
* Awareness and experience of Google Kubernetes Engine, GCP offerings, Jenkins & Azure DevOps.
* Awareness and experience of AWS.
* Highly developed attention to detail.
