Billing Assistant
Sunderland
9 Month Temporary
Full time ( 37 hours)
Monday- Friday

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focusedBilling Assistant to join our Finance Services team. This role is responsible for the accurate creation and issue of all invoice types (excluding DUoS invoices), supporting billing queries, and ensuring high standards of data accuracy and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
1. Create and issue invoices across all invoice types (excluding DUoS invoices)
2. Input, manipulate and validate financial data accurately
3. Assist with internal and external invoice queries via telephone and email
4. Produce reports to monitor invoice volumes and values
5. Monitor customer risk and escalate concerns where appropriate
6. Deliver excellent customer service and work collaboratively with colleagues
Skills & Competencies
7. Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
8. Good IT skills, including experience using financial systems and MS Office (particularly Excel and Outlook)
9. Effective customer service skills, both written and verbal
10. Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage high volumes of work and meet deadlines
11. Ability to prioritise workloads and provide clarity and direction where required
12. A collaborative approach with the ability to contribute to and support a strong team-working culture
Essential Qualifications
13. Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths at Grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent)
Desirable Qualifications
14. A-levels or a degree in a numerate subject
15. NVQ or other financial/business qualifications
16. Understanding of financial receipting and reconciliation
