FJA are looking to recruit a Senior / Principal Structural Engineer within an Engineering team based at Hattersley, Manchester with hybrid working available.

Key responsibilities as a Senior / Principal Structural Engineer will include:
10. Production of structural design calculations for all aspects of Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment plants, including both new build and modifications to existing plants
11. Review of structural content of construction drawings/models
12. Review of subcontract design proposals
13. Ensuring all work is considered for buildability, standardisation and DfMA, and for safety on site complying with CDM regulations
14. Reinforced concrete and steelwork design to all relevant Eurocodes and British Standards
15. Co-ordination and liaison within a multi-discipline organisation including construction oversight and site support
16. Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the discipline
17. Resource planning and responsibility for project delivery within budget and programme
18. Coordination of designs with other disciplines and use of resources both internal and external
19. Provide support to civil design staff
20. Provide support to help develop junior staff
21. Ensure designs take account of environmental issues
22. Assist in improving processes and procedures
23. Work collaboratively with our extended team in Pune, India
The Successful Senior / Principal Structural Engineer Must have:
24. Strong structural engineering design background, including technical detailing for Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment Projects
25. A proven track record of structural engineering within the water with a desire to work in a design and build environment
26. Good knowledge of structural analysis and ability to use Microsoft Excel and design software such as StaadPro and Tekla TEDDS
27. Degree qualified in Civil and/or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
28. Membership of a relevant professional institution
29. Good track record for the design of water retaining structures to construction standard using Eurocodes
30. Good working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety.
31. This role is office based but may require some travelling within the UK occasionally

You will report directly to the Structures Lead (Hattersley) and your role will provide superior quality Engineering Design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. In order to ensure the above the successful Senior / Principal Structural Engineer must co-ordinate the design and produce Structural design documents and drawings taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications and standards pertaining to the contract.
