About the Role
We are seeking a Litter Warden to be responsible for all duties concerning littering and management within the local community.
Key Responsibilities
* To have a detailed knowledge and understanding of the litter and waste legislation and the skills necessary to deliver effective enforcement of the legislation.
* To undertake the full range of duties in connection with the litter and waste legislation by patrolling the streets and public places, detecting offences which culminate in the issue of a fixed penalty notice, investigating complaints, and preparing statements and reports of evidence for attendance at court and giving evidence as required.
* To have a detailed knowledge of the roles, services, and functions undertaken by Cleansing Services as well as other council departments involved in maintaining street cleanliness.
* To liaise with other council officers and relevant bodies, including statutory bodies such as the PSNI, on matters affecting street cleanliness and public health and safety issues.
* To carry out all duties and make decisions fairly and equitably, considering the Enforcement Policy and other factors influencing compliance.
* To use initiative in identifying and monitoring litter dumping hotspots and reporting problematic areas to the Enforcement Officer.
* To respond to requests for service from businesses, statutory agencies, and the public, ensuring requests are logged for follow-up.
* To identify and report fly-posting and graffiti incidents to the Enforcement Officer.
Applicants must, as of the application deadline:
* Have at least five GCSEs (grades A–C) including English, or equivalent qualifications.
* Demonstrate, through personal and specific examples on the application form, at least one year's relevant experience in each of the following areas:
1. Dealing with members of the public in enforcement or legislative roles, such as litter enforcement, dog control orders, and alcohol enforcement.
2. Administrative work including producing written reports and maintaining records.
