Affinity Water is looking for a talented, driven, and adaptable individual to join our Asset Strategy team as a Leakage Control Technician (Trunk Mains).

This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll play a key part in helping us reduce water loss across our 3,000km trunk mains network, while delivering an excellent service to our customers.

Working within a close-knit, supportive team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues and internal partners to detect and resolve leakage, while also having the autonomy to occasionally work independently managing surveys and responding to incidents in the field.

What you’ll be doing

1. Carrying out leakage detection surveys across our trunk mains network using a range of specialist techniques

2. Working collaboratively with internal teams to understand requirements and support network improvements

3. Taking ownership of assigned surveys, support requests, and incident response activities

4. Using mapping and telemetry systems to enhance survey accuracy

5. Raising and managing work through internal systems

6. Identifying and reporting hazards in real time, ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures

7. Communicating effectively with other departments to support timely repairs and network corrections

8. Contributing to team targets and supporting colleagues when required

Please note:

This is primarily a field-based role, which includes lone working

You’ll be expected to travel across the Affinity Water region (from Saffron Walden to Woking), so flexibility in working hours is essential

Occasional travel to our East and Southeast regions may be required (additional incentives apply)

9. A proactive and flexible individual who thrives both within a team and working independently

10. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative in a field-based environment

11. Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset

12. Experienced in the use of all leakage systems such as Waternet and GIS

13. Must hold a full driving licence

14. Experienced in the use of all leakage methodologies and techniques

15. A commitment to working safely and following company processes

16. Willingness to travel and adapt to varying working patterns

17. Salary: Up to £46,507 (Basic and Flex) dependant on skills and experience
