About the role


Imperial is a world Top 10 university with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. The Hospitality Department of the Property Division are responsible for operating various cafes, restaurants, bars and events located across all their Campuses to provide affordable and high-quality food and services for the Imperial community and external clients. They create a valuable resource for Imperial, which in turn supports our academic community of world leaders in the provision of Engineering, Medicine, Natural Sciences, Business Management, Research and Teaching.

We are looking for an experienced Soft Services Coordinator who will be responsible for supporting and assisting the Waste & Recycling Manager in the daily operations of the Waste Team, to ensure that the services, equipment, and environment are maintained to the highest possible standard across all Imperial Campuses.


What you would be doing


You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Imperial and departmental procedures, health, safety and other legislation in relation to waste and recycling.

You will be to providing a presence in and around the buildings in the designated area, to ensure that the services, equipment and environment are maintained to the highest possible standard on an ongoing basis and that waste is disposed of via the appropriate route.

You will also have Environmental responsibility and will support the Energy, Environment and Sustainability Manager and contributing to Imperial's Environmental Management System.


What we are looking for

* Knowledge of waste and recycling issues and facilities
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, to deliver an efficient and effective service
* Excellent team skills, with the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships (internally and externally) at all levels
* Collaborative approach to tasks to ensure overall goals of the Division are achieved
* Written and verbal communication skills
* Able to deal with less routine queries referring more complex questions to a manager
* Working knowledge of MS Office with the ability to competently use Word, Outlook for e-mail and calendar appointments, together with Excel
* An understanding of the need for excellent customer service and an ability to develop and maintain good working relationships
* Have a proven ability to work within a busy multi-tasking team with a flexible approach to daily work
* Able to plan own activities and those of others
* A level of fitness that enables the post holder to carry out all duties
