Cellular Pathology Improvements Lead
Cellular Pathology in BCUHB are seeking applications from enthusiastic, capable, flexible scientists to join our vibrant and forward looking service.
Service improvement and sustainability are key areas that the post holder will identify and work on with the pathology teams and as part of national networks. It would be expected that you have a high degree of personal professional autonomy and can make critical judgments to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role. The post holder will be required to work within the professional standards expected as a registrant of the Health Professions Council (HCPC) and maintain a portfolio of evidence supporting Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Working alongside the management and quality team, you will make sure that and developments align with laboratory ISO standards and work towards regulatory standards set by UKAS and the HTA.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of a team of senior scientists responsible for the operational delivery of core and specialist Cellular Pathology services in BCUHB.
As a registered Biomedical Scientist, they are responsible for the delivery and continued development of a comprehensive Cellular Pathology service to meet the needs of the BCUHB clinical and patient population and led by the strategic and operation direction set by the CPG and communicated through the Specialist Service manager.
The post holder will exercise autonomy within professional boundaries and will be involved in managing priorities, designing and implementing developments and overseeing quality within the Cellular Pathology department as part of a multi-skilled team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications And Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Evidence of degree level learning in Biomedical Science or equivalent
* HPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
* Masters level/ equivalent level of work experience and knowledge in relevant health and science subject
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Management/Leadership qualifications or sufficient experience
Desirable criteria
* Project Management Qualification
* Training in service improvement tools and statistical analysis e.g. six sigma, PDSA, Lean
* Evidence of formal training in Improvement methodology or experience of using change management tools within a Health Care environment
Skills
Essential criteria
* Understanding health policy and associated legislation and its impact on the management and development of health services
* Service Improvement and redesign tools and techniques and experience of using them to effect sustainable change
* Ability to analyse data to make a judgment, develop plans and convert into actionHas an Innovative approach to problem solving
* Ability to work effectively with and gain and retain confidence of clinicians, managers, staff and partners
* Ability to lead the development of strategic plans working across Division’s, area teams and across agencies, within a fast changing, uncertain environment

Essential criteria
* Broad experience in pathology, specifically Cellular Pathology and Mortuary Service
* Leading change to improve performance and managing resistance to whole system programmes of improvement
* Successfully managing performance of services to meet required standards and having knowledge of those standards.
* Experience and knowledge of quality systems
* Project management from design through to implementation and benefits realisation
* Experience of interdepartmental working and development of joint projects
